FAQs

How much does it cost?

We have two options:
1. We generally charge an hourly rate which we feel reflects a fair price for both our customers and ourselves.
2. Subject to a survey, we can offer a fixed price.

Is your company fully Insured?

Yes, we have a standard £2,000,000 Public Liability Insurance and £10,000,000 Employers Liability Insurance. We also have Goods in Transit Insurance of £10,000 per van which can be increased subject to an additional charge and must be arranged in advance of the move.

How much notice do you require?

This obviously depends on our work load, but if you have a specific moving date then we do try to accommodate this whenever we can.  It would help us greatly by giving us as much notice as possible.

Do you dismantle and re-assemble my furniture i.e beds, wardrobe etc.?

We are quite willing to carry out any dismantling and re-assembling as necessary. However, sometimes and depending on the item, it can be quite time consuming and this will add to the overall cost, unless this has been agreed in the initial quotation.

What about Flat-Pack Furniture?

This type of furniture is not designed to be moved in it’s assembled form. Please be aware some modern flat pack furniture is not built to be dismantled and rebuilt, sometimes when the furniture is dismantled it does not re-build as solidly as when first built.  You will be informed if there is any risk to your furniture.

Who organizes Access & Parking?

It is your responsibility to ensure that there is suitable access for our removal vehicles at both collection and delivery addresses. It is also your responsibility to ensure that there is adequate parking at both addresses to avoid any delays on the day of the move. It is advisable to contact your local Council Office to arrange permits or cones for parking if required.  Remember to also for warn your neighbours to ensure they are not inconvenienced. The cost of any parking tickets incurred will be borne by the client.

What happens if the move is delayed and we cannot gain access to the new property?

Depending on the circumstances we would be happy to arrange temporary storage for your items. However this services is subject to  additional charges.

When and how do I pay?

Unless agreed prior to the move, payment is required by cash or cheque on completion of the removal.

Do you require a deposit?

This is not normally required, however, where the move commences outside of the York area a deposit is required.

Do I need to unpack my chest of drawers?

Normally drawers which are filled with light items such as clothing, bedding etc. can be left intact, however self assembly furniture needs to be completely empty when being relocated. Please remove any books, magazines, breakable items etc and pack them separately.

Will you empty my loft?

Yes, the loft needs to be boarded out, with adequate lighting and safe access, otherwise our Insurance does not cover our team for this purpose. If this is not the case then please ensure your loft is empty prior to our arrival.

I am thinking of using your Man and a Van Service, will I be able to travel with you and my belongings?

Yes, using the Man and a Van services there is room for up to two passengers.
